Singer-Filmmaker Palaash Muchhal Accused of Cheating Investor of Rs 40 Lakh in Sangli

Singer and filmmaker Palaash Muchhal has been accused of cheating a Sangli-based film financier of Rs 40 lakh. The complaint alleges that Muchhal collected money for a film project that never materialised and later failed to return the investment. Police have confirmed they are examining the submitted documents and investigating the matter.

Singer and filmmaker Palaash Muchhal has landed in legal trouble after a Sangli-based man filed a complaint accusing him of financial fraud involving Rs 40 lakh. The complaint was lodged with the Sangli district police on Wednesday evening.

The complainant, Vidnyan Mane, a film financier and a childhood friend of cricketer Smriti Mandhana, alleged that he was introduced to Muchhal by Mandhana’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, during the filmmaker’s visit to Sangli. According to Mane, Muchhal approached him with a proposal to invest in a film titled Nazariya, promising a swift OTT release and assured returns.

Trusting these assurances, Mane claims he invested Rs 40 lakh in multiple instalments, both in cash and via digital transactions. He has submitted bank records and payment details to the police as evidence. However, the film allegedly never went into production. Mane further alleged that while Muchhal initially promised to return the money, he later stopped responding to calls and eventually blocked all communication.

After waiting for several months, Mane approached the authorities, alleging cheating and financial fraud. Police officials confirmed that the complaint has been received and that the documents are currently under verification. Further investigation is ongoing.

The development comes amid renewed public attention on Muchhal, who was previously in the news following his cancelled wedding to Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana. Muchhal is currently preparing for his next directorial venture, which is set to feature actor Shreyas Talpade.
