Siddaramaiah Asks Rahul Gandhi for Clarity Amid CM Post Confusion

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has sought a meeting with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi to seek clarity on the state’s leadership tussle, citing “constant confusion” over the issue, sources told India Today TV.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has sought clarity from Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, citing “constant confusion” over a leadership tussle in the state, sources told India Today TV. He reportedly requested the meeting amid speculation about a possible leadership change and expressed interest in expanding his cabinet.

The Congress high command, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge, has repeatedly denied any internal crisis, emphasizing that leadership matters should be resolved at the state level. Both Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar have dismissed claims of discord, asserting they enjoy mutual confidence and will abide by the party’s decisions.

The controversy stems from rumors of a rotational CM arrangement, allegedly sharing the post between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar for 2.5 years each. Siddaramaiah took office on May 20, 2023, and expectations of a mid-term leadership change around November 2025 fueled speculation. The Congress has consistently denied such an agreement, reaffirming that Siddaramaiah will serve the full five-year term.

Amid the tussle, some MLAs loyal to Shivakumar reportedly flew to Delhi to press demands, which Shivakumar described as routine lobbying ahead of a cabinet reshuffle. Meanwhile, the BJP has criticized the Congress leadership in Karnataka, claiming the party is more focused on internal power struggles than governance.
