A serious incident of violence was reported at a private college in Devanahalli, Bengaluru Rural, after senior students allegedly attacked college staff and junior students over complaints of ragging. According to police, first-year students were subjected to harassment and forced to perform humiliating tasks for two days.
When the head of admissions confronted the seniors, the situation escalated into a violent assault near the college premises, involving iron rods, wooden sticks, and stones. Several students and staff were injured, property was damaged, and a junior student was allegedly robbed of a gold chain. Police have registered a case against 22 students and an outsider under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Karnataka Education Act, and further arrests are expected.
