India well-positioned despite US trade uncertainties: CII President Rajiv Memani

Reflecting on a year of trade disruptions and geopolitical shifts, Rajiv Memani said India’s strong policy framework and ongoing reforms have kept the economy on solid footing.

India has navigated global trade turbulence better than expected and remains well-positioned for stronger economic engagement, even without a formal trade deal with the United States, said CII President Rajiv Memani at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Reflecting on a year of trade disruptions and geopolitical shifts, Memani highlighted that India’s policy resilience and reform momentum have kept the economy on firm footing. He emphasized that any future US trade agreement must be fair, equitable, and respectful to both sides, aligning with India’s strategic priorities.

Despite the stalled US pact, India has strengthened economic ties with other major partners, including the Middle East, the UK, and the European Union. Memani pointed to increasing foreign delegations and strong macroeconomic indicators as proof that India remains in a “sweet spot” for growth and global business engagement.
