Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has reportedly received a threatening WhatsApp voice note in which the sender allegedly demanded money running into crores. The message, claimed to be linked to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, prompted Singh to inform the Mumbai Police immediately. Following the report, security at the actor’s residence, where he lives with wife Deepika Padukone, was significantly strengthened.
The housing society management later wrote to the police seeking clarification on the heavy deployment of security personnel, stating that residents were facing inconvenience as armed guards moved through common areas.
This incident follows closely on the heels of a firing outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Mumbai residence on February 8, which the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for. Five individuals have been detained by Pune Police in connection with that case. The firing occurred around 12:45 am on the first floor of Shetty’s nine-storey building in Juhu, with one bullet striking a glass gym facade.
The gang later claimed responsibility through a social media post, and an alleged gangster, Arju Bishnoi, released an audio message purportedly admitting to the attack.
