The Bollywood espionage thriller Dhurandhar has been declared tax-free in the Union Territory of Ladakh, adding another milestone to its successful theatrical run. The announcement was made by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh through an official post on X, confirming the exemption from entertainment tax across the region.
Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Aditya Dhar, the film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role, alongside Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal. The film is produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios.
Inspired by real events, Dhurandhar explores large-scale espionage operations and covert intelligence missions, blending high-octane action with political intrigue. Since its release in early December, the film has drawn strong footfalls and maintained steady momentum at the box office, both domestically and internationally.
In its statement, the Ladakh administration highlighted the film’s extensive use of the region as a shooting location. The official communication noted that Dhurandhar showcases Ladakh’s cinematic landscapes, underlining the Union Territory’s growing efforts to position itself as a preferred destination for major film productions.
Industry observers see the tax-free status as a move that could further boost the film’s collections while also promoting Ladakh’s potential as a hub for filmmaking. The success of Dhurandhar has also fuelled anticipation for its sequel, scheduled for release in March, adding to the franchise’s growing appeal.
