Priya Kapur, the third wife of the late businessman Sunjay Kapur, has approached the Supreme Court seeking certified copies of all documents related to the 2016 divorce proceedings between actor Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur. A bench led by Justice AS Chandurkar will consider in a chamber hearing whether these confidential documents—including the divorce petition, court filings, Supreme Court orders, and the settlement agreement—should be provided to Priya to review the financial and child custody arrangements made by her late husband.
The request comes amid a legal dispute over Sunjay Kapur’s 30,000-crore estate. Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, have approached the Delhi High Court alleging that their father’s will, which reportedly leaves almost his entire wealth to Priya Kapur, is forged. They claim Priya and the attesting witnesses falsified the documents and have sought inspection of the original will, along with an interim injunction preventing Priya from dealing with or transferring assets.
Sunjay Kapur, former chairman of auto components firm Sona Comstar, died in June last year at 53 from a sudden heart attack while playing polo in England, after which the contested will surfaced, triggering the ongoing high-profile legal battle.
