Proceedings in Parliament’s Budget session were disrupted once again on Monday as protests by opposition members led to repeated adjournments in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju blamed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for the impasse, alleging that the opposition’s rigid stance was preventing the House from functioning smoothly.
Rijiju said the government was willing to engage in discussion, but accused the Congress leadership of refusing to cooperate, resulting in stalled proceedings and loss of productive time. He added that repeated disruptions were affecting the passage of important legislative and budgetary business.
The opposition, meanwhile, has continued to press for debate on its demands, leading to noisy scenes and adjournments shortly after the Houses convened. The standoff has raised concerns over delays in key policy discussions during the crucial Budget session.
As the deadlock continues, pressure is mounting on both the government and the opposition to find common ground and allow Parliament to function, especially with several important bills and financial matters pending for discussion.
