Orissa High Court Issues Notice Over Home Guard Recruitment Irregularities

The Orissa High Court on Thursday issued notices to the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Subarnapur district and other officials regarding alleged irregularities in the Home Guard recruitment process. The notices came during the hearing of a petition challenging the legality and transparency of the selection process.

Allegations of IrregularitiesPetitioners have claimed that the recruitment of 92 Home Guards across Subarnapur district involved multiple irregularities, raising concerns over fairness and adherence to official guidelines. Specifically, objections were raised over the appointment of candidates from areas outside designated police station jurisdictions, allegedly overlooking local aspirants.

High Court Demands ClarificationThe High Court has sought responses from the SP and other authorities named in the petition to clarify the allegations. The next hearing is scheduled for February 23, leaving the future of the recruitment process and the appointments under review.
