Thiruvananthapuram:
A shocking discovery stunned residents of Alappuzha, Kerala, after a beggar who died in a road accident was found carrying over ₹4.5 lakh in cash. The deceased, identified as Anil Kishore, was a familiar figure around Charummoot and nearby areas. On Monday night, Kishore suffered injuries in an accident and was rushed to a hospital by locals, but he left the facility on his own. The next morning, he was found dead outside a shop, and his body was sent for post-mortem.
Police discovered a container near Kishore’s body, which, when opened in the presence of local panchayat member Philip Umman, revealed the large sum of money. The cash included banned ₹2,000 notes as well as foreign currency, all stored in plastic tins. Locals said Kishore typically begged for daily food expenses, and no one had any idea he possessed such a substantial amount.
Authorities confirmed that the recovered money will be handed over to the court, irrespective of whether any family members come forward to claim it, leaving the community both shocked and intrigued by the beggar’s hidden fortune.
