The Odisha government will introduce 55 new textbooks for classes 1 to 8 from the next academic year, officials announced on Friday. The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, with State School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond and senior officials in attendance.
The meeting focused on implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and ensuring the state is prepared to roll out textbooks aligned with the national curriculum framework. The 55 new textbooks have been translated and contextualised from NCERT materials to reflect Odisha’s local culture, heritage, and educational needs.
