The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the results of JEE Main 2026, with 12 candidates achieving a perfect 100 percentile. Among the top performers is 17-year-old Kabir Chhillar, who scored a remarkable 300 out of 300 in the January session.
A classroom student in Kota for the past two years, Kabir attributes his success to disciplined preparation, conceptual clarity, and consistent self-evaluation. Originally from Rajasthan, he comes from an academically strong background. His father, Mohit Chhillar, is an IIT graduate working in the private sector, and his mother, Priyanka Chhillar, is a teacher. Kabir previously scored 98% in his Class 10 board exams, reflecting his solid academic foundation.
In an interaction with India Today, Kabir stressed that focused and guided effort is more important than simply studying long hours.
“Hard work in the right direction is crucial. Simply studying for long hours is not enough. You need to understand what you are doing and why you are doing it,” he said.
He credits his teachers in Kota for strengthening his conceptual clarity. Instead of rote memorisation, Kabir focused on deeply understanding subjects and applying concepts effectively.
Kabir followed a systematic approach by breaking subjects into smaller, manageable topics. He prepared concise notes for revision and ensured regular review. Mock tests played a central role in his preparation.
Rather than being discouraged by mistakes, he carefully analysed every error after tests to improve steadily. Time management and accuracy were also key focus areas, especially given the competitive nature of JEE Main.
Despite the rigorous preparation schedule, Kabir maintained balance by spending time with friends to refresh his mind. He believes mental well-being is essential during intense exam preparation.
Following his outstanding performance, Kabir now aims to pursue Computer Science from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. In the long term, he aspires to study at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Kabir Chhillar’s achievement in JEE Main 2026 highlights the importance of conceptual clarity, disciplined planning, and continuous self-analysis in achieving excellence at a national level.
