Vijay Sethupathi has confirmed a cameo in the highly anticipated Tamil action-comedyJailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The film, starring Rajinikanth reprising his role from the 2023 hitJailer, is set for release on June 12, 2026. Sethupathi revealed that this appearance is an exception to his usual choice to avoid cameos or villainous roles, motivated by his admiration for Rajinikanth.
In an interview withThe Hollywood Reporter India, Sethupathi said, “I have done a cameo inJailer 2because I love Rajinikanth sir. To be with him, I get to learn a lot. The superstars survived in this industry for so many decades. There is so much to learn.” He also emphasized that he only takes villain roles when the script offers something unique, rather than standard antagonist parts designed merely to elevate the hero.
The sequel features a star-studded ensemble including Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, S. J. Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, and Yogi Babu, with special appearances by Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, and Vinayakan. Director Nelson Dilipkumar returns after the original film’s success, promising continuity for fans and generating high expectations for the release.
