Harmanpreet Kaur Injured; Smriti Mandhana Leads India in 1st ODI vs Australia

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur missed the second innings of the first ODI against Australia in Brisbane due to a knee injury. Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana took over leadership while the BCCI monitors Harmanpreet’s recovery.

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur did not take the field during the second innings of the first ODI against Australia in Brisbane on February 24 after sustaining a knee injury while batting. Harmanpreet had scored a vital half-century to help India post 215 runs, but could not participate in the chase.

Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana led the team in her absence, contributing 58 runs to anchor the innings. India faced early setbacks with Pratika Rawal dismissed for a two-ball duck and Shafali Verma failing to capitalize at No. 3. Kashvee Gautam’s brisk 43 provided momentum, but Australia’s bowlers, led by Ashleigh Gardner (3/33), maintained pressure and bowled India out with nine balls to spare.

The BCCI medical team is closely monitoring Harmanpreet’s condition as India looks ahead to the rest of the series against a strong Australian side.
