A live-in relationship in Chandpur, Uttar Pradesh, ended in tragedy on January 18 when Hariom Singh, a manager at a finance company, was found hanging in his rented room. Sheetal, a Community Health Officer, had been living with him for over a year and a half.
Initial reports indicate the couple had consumed alcohol and got into a heated argument over marriage, with Hariom’s family opposing the union. During the altercation, Hariom threatened to hang himself, and according to police, Sheetal’s actions inadvertently caused him to lose balance, resulting in his death.
Following postmortem examinations that revealed injury marks, the police conducted further investigations. During questioning, Sheetal reportedly confessed to her role in the incident. She has since been arrested and sent to judicial custody as the investigation continues.
