A fuel shortage has been reported in the Lamtaput area of Odisha’s Koraput district, leaving several petrol pumps closed and causing inconvenience to residents and commuters.
According to local reports, petrol and diesel have not been available at the petrol pumps in the area for the past two days. As a result, vehicle owners visiting the pumps in search of fuel have had to return disappointed as the outlets remain locked due to the lack of supply.
Despite government assurances that there is no overall shortage of fuel, the situation on the ground in Lamtaput appears to be different, with supply disruptions affecting local petrol pumps.
The shortage has created significant difficulties for drivers and commuters in the region. Many vehicle owners have reportedly been stranded on roads after their vehicles ran out of fuel, while others are struggling to manage daily travel and work-related transportation.
Residents said they have repeatedly visited petrol pumps hoping the supply would arrive, but the outlets have remained shut due to the unavailability of petrol and diesel.
Amid the ongoing disruption, some locals have speculated that the shortage may be linked to the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. However, officials have not confirmed any such connection between the international situation and the local fuel supply issue.
There are indications that fresh fuel supplies may arrive soon. If the deliveries reach the area as expected, petrol pumps could reopen later in the day, bringing relief to motorists who have been facing difficulties due to the shortage.
Authorities are expected to monitor the situation closely to ensure that normal fuel supply is restored and that commuters do not continue to face disruptions in the coming days.
