Four minor students from Tinkbir village under Reamal police station in Deogarh district, Odisha, who went missing on Tuesday evening, were safely traced on Thursday morning, bringing relief to their families and the local community.
The children had returned home from school around 4 pm on Wednesday and later went to the village playground to watch a local cricket match, but did not come back afterward. Concerned families informed the police, prompting the launch of a search operation.
Acting under the directions of Deogarh Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar Mishra, two special police teams conducted a night-long search with assistance from local residents. Despite extensive efforts, the children were not located until early Thursday morning.
Around 7 am, villagers spotted the minors in a forested area on a small hill near a Shiva temple within the village. The children were safely rescued and returned home. They were reportedly unable to explain why they had gone into the forest.
The children’s health was stable, and no injuries were reported. Authorities suspect the children may have wandered off of their own accord and, possibly out of fear of being scolded, did not disclose the full circumstances. Police have stated that further inquiry will be conducted to determine the exact reason for the incident.
