The Choudwar Jail escape case has taken a new turn as the jail superintendent and a former jailer have filed counter-complaints against each other, intensifying the investigation into the incident involving two undertrial prisoners. The developments have prompted authorities to probe alleged procedural lapses, record manipulation, and accountability issues.

Jail Superintendent Sujit Roul lodged a complaint on Monday at Choudwar police station against former jailer Santoshini Dash, accusing her of issuing threats and abusing him. The complaint followed Dash’s own police complaint against Roul on Sunday, escalating tensions between the two officials.

Allegations of Forgery and Record TamperingIn her complaint, Dash accused Roul of forgery and misuse of authority, claiming that official records were altered after the escape of two prisoners from Circle Jail, Cuttack, on October 3, 2025, to falsely indicate proper supervision and the superintendent’s presence at the time.

Dash further alleged that Roul was absent without authorization during the incident and that documents were backdated to conceal his absence and shield those responsible. She also raised concerns about possible conspiracy, destruction of evidence, and abuse of office, stating that forged signatures in official registers harmed her reputation and undermined the investigation.

Investigation Set to ExpandPolice officials confirmed that both complaints are under scrutiny, with the probe likely to expand into all procedural, administrative, and security aspects of the jail escape. The counter-complaints suggest a more detailed inquiry is underway to establish accountability and verify the allegations.
