A daylight chain-snatching incident in Bhubaneswar has raised concerns over public safety after miscreants targeted the mother of a police officer in the Chandrasekharpur area. The incident took place around 9 am when the woman was out for her routine morning walk at a residential colony that locals considered relatively safe.
According to reports, unidentified bike-borne snatchers approached the victim, forcibly snatched her gold chain, and fled the scene. CCTV cameras installed in the locality captured the incident, and police are now examining the footage to trace the suspects.
The victim said she was shocked by the incident, stating that she had been walking along the same route for nearly a year and never expected such a crime to occur there. Family members also revealed that they had earlier experienced a similar snatching incident, leading them to be more cautious about wearing valuables outside.
The incident has triggered concern among residents, many of whom have expressed fear about safety in residential areas and called for increased police patrolling. Police have assured that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits at the earliest.
