In a major anti-drug operation, the Special Crime Unit of the Commissionerate Police arrested three alleged drug peddlers and seized brown sugar worth approximately Rs 37 lakh in Bhubaneswar.
The accused have been identified as Sameer Khan, Sk Irshad Mohammed, and Munaf Khan, all residents of Jaleswar in Balasore district. Police said the trio was caught red-handed while allegedly selling brown sugar in the capital city.
Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh said 370 grams of brown sugar were seized during the raid. The accused had been under surveillance before their arrest.
Police suspect the involvement of a larger drug trafficking network. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the narcotics and identify other people linked to the illegal trade.
