Bolangir police on Saturday uncovered a shocking case of fratricide and betrayal, in which an elder brother allegedly orchestrated the murder of his younger sibling by hiring contract killers and involving the victim’s best friend.
The victim, Nataraj Thanapati, was pushed off the Tel River bridge on the night of January 2 in Deulagudi village under Tusura Police Station, just a month before his scheduled wedding. Investigations revealed that Nataraj’s elder brother, Nabkumar Thanapati, allegedly planned the killing and hired his brother’s close friend, Khetra, offering Rs 60,000 in advance to execute the crime. Khetra reportedly lured Nataraj out of his house with a phone call before pushing him off the bridge.
Following a detailed probe, Tusura Police arrested Nabkumar along with eight others connected to the murder. Authorities are continuing the investigation to determine the exact motive and unravel the full chain of events behind this gruesome crime.
