In a major breakthrough against Left-wing extremism, security forces killed at least 15 Naxals, including dreaded Maoist leader Patiram Manjhi alias Anal Da, during a fierce encounter in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district on Thursday. The operation was launched in the Saranda forest based on specific intelligence inputs about Maoists planning a major attack in the region.
Anal Da, who carried a bounty of Rs 1 crore, was one of the most influential Maoist strategists operating across multiple districts of Jharkhand. Police recovered several bodies, sophisticated weapons, ammunition, and daily-use items from the site, while a massive search operation continues. Following the encounter, security has been heightened along the Odisha–Jharkhand border as forces intensify joint anti-Maoist operations.
