Veteran actor Anil Kapoor has opened up about how his wife, Sunita Kapoor, played a pivotal role in shaping the emotional depth of his upcoming filmSubedaar. Speaking withIndian Express, the 69-year-old star explained that he drew inspiration from his marriage to portray a man torn between personal love, professional duty, and devotion to his nation.
“InSubedaar, I think I dug into my relationship with my wife. The love I have for her, for my work, and for my country—I tried to merge all of that,” Anil said. He clarified that his relationship with his daughters, Sonam Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, did not influence the character. “With my daughters, we are like friends. The love which I have for my wife, and the love for my work, that’s where the emotional core comes from.”
Anil further discussed the constant tension between professional obligations and personal life, a theme central to the film. “There are situations where the character must finish his duty first and then be with his wife. This conflict is real in life too. My wife’s contribution is tremendous because she understands my madness and love for my work, allowing me to be myself.”
