Rayalaseema emerging as growth engine for Andhra Pradesh, says Chandrababu Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said Rayalaseema has emerged as a key growth engine under the NDA government and is on track to develop into a global hub, powered by major advances in irrigation, industrial expansion, and logistics infrastructure.

Rayalaseema, once associated with drought and chronic distress, is rapidly emerging as a major growth engine under the NDA and is poised to develop into a global hub, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Tuesday.

Calling the shift historic, Naidu said the region’s development trajectory has undergone a dramatic transformation over the past decade. “Rayalaseema is transforming into a growth engine under the NDA and is now poised to become a global hub,” he said.

Highlighting Anantapur district as a case in point, the chief minister said the area, once nationally known for acute drought, has been revitalised through targeted interventions such as the Gollapalli reservoir project and the establishment of KIA Motors. “These initiatives have fundamentally changed the region’s economic landscape,” he noted.

Naidu said Rayalaseema has become a game changer in Andhra Pradesh’s economic journey, contributing significantly to the state’s leadership in horticulture and fruit production. “Rayalaseema has emerged as the backbone of our horticulture economy, supported by its favourable agro-climatic conditions,” he said.

Outlining the NDA government’s long-term vision, Naidu said efforts are underway to position Rayalaseema as a global hub by expanding irrigation infrastructure, boosting industrial activity, and strengthening logistics connectivity. “The region has inherent strengths, and our focus is on unlocking its full potential,” he said.

The chief minister also assured farmers and industries of sustained water availability under the TDP-led government, stressing that water security would drive accelerated growth. “With assured water supply, Rayalaseema is set to grow faster than the rest of the state,” he said.

Naidu added that Rayalaseema’s transformation reflects the NDA’s broader development approach, centred on infrastructure-led growth, investment-driven job creation, and balanced regional development across Andhra Pradesh.
