A woman was found dead inside her house at Chungamatia village under Khamar police station limits inAnguldistrict on Tuesday, with her parental family alleging murder and seeking a thorough investigation. Police have launched a probe to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding her death.
The deceased has been identified as Dolly Sahu.
According to initial information, the woman’s in-laws claimed that she died by suicide, allegedly hanging herself with a piece of cloth. However, her parental family strongly disputed the claim and alleged that she was murdered.
Members of the in-laws’ family claimed that Dolly and her husband frequently quarrelled. According to their version, the couple had a heated argument on Monday night, following which both went to sleep.
They further claimed that Dolly was found hanging inside the house on Tuesday morning. It was reported that her husband first brought down the body and then informed other family members about the incident.
The deceased woman’s family rejected the suicide claim and alleged that she did not take her own life. They maintained that she was murdered and demanded a fair and impartial investigation into the incident.
Dolly’s brother later lodged a formal complaint with the police, accusing the in-laws of involvement in her death. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and initiated an investigation.
Police reached the spot and seized the body, which was sent for post-mortem examination. At the time of filing this report, the forensic team and dog squad had not reached the spot.
Police officials said further action would be taken based on the findings of the post-mortem report and the ongoing investigation.
