A luxury Lamborghini mounted a footpath in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur on Sunday after its driver allegedly suffered dizziness and a seizure while driving, leaving a pedestrian injured and raising concerns over road safety. The incident occurred on an express road near the Gwal Toli area.
Police said Shivam, son of tobacco trader A K Mishra, was driving the high-performance vehicle when he reportedly lost control but attempted to steer the car away from the main carriageway. During the manoeuvre, the Lamborghini struck a pedestrian, identified as Taufiq Ahmed, and also hit an autorickshaw before coming to a halt on the roadside.
The injured man was rushed to hospital and is undergoing treatment. His condition is reported to be stable. Locals said the incident could have resulted in far greater casualties had the car been travelling at high speed.
Police seized the vehicle and launched an inquiry to verify whether the driver has a history of seizures. Deputy Commissioner of Police Central Atul Srivastava said further action would be taken based on complaints received. Authorities are also examining allegations that people accompanying the driver prioritised securing the vehicle over helping the injured man.
