Pigeon Triggers Panic After Flying Off with Gold Chain Worth ₹1 Lakh in Rajasthan

A brief panic broke out in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district when a pigeon flew away with a gold chain worth nearly ₹1 lakh from a jewellery shop in Degana. The ornament was later recovered intact from a nearby rooftop.

An unusual incident created momentary panic in the bullion market of Degana town in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district on Thursday after a pigeon flew away with a gold chain worth around ₹1 lakh from a jewellery shop.

According to local traders, the घटना occurred at a jewellery establishment where craftsmen were working on gold ornaments on the upper floor. The pigeon unexpectedly entered the premises and, within seconds, picked up a newly crafted gold chain in its beak before flying away.

The sudden sight of the bird escaping with a valuable ornament left the jeweller and workers stunned, triggering chaos across the busy market area. Shop staff and nearby traders watched helplessly as the pigeon flew out and landed on the roof of the market building.

For several minutes, the pigeon remained on the rooftop, drawing anxious attention from traders and bystanders who closely tracked its movements in the hope of recovering the chain. Relief followed when the ornament slipped from the bird’s beak and fell safely onto the roof, from where it was retrieved without any damage.

Traders later confirmed that the gold chain was recovered intact, easing concerns of loss. The bizarre episode quickly became a topic of discussion in the local market, particularly amid high gold prices that have heightened sensitivity toward security and unexpected risks in jewellery businesses.
