India’s teen batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi is showing no signs of slowing down as he produced another breathtaking innings ahead of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026. Suryavanshi warmed up for the tournament with a sensational 50-ball 96 against Scotland Under-19 on Saturday, January 10, at the Bulawayo Athletic Club.

The 14-year-old clobbered nine fours and seven sixes during his belligerent knock, continuing his rich run of form in recent times. Suryavanshi added 70 runs for the first wicket off 42 balls with captain Ayush Mhatre (22 off 19) and later got involved in a 78-run stand with Aaron George (61 off 58) off 56 balls.

Suryavanshi brought up his half-century off just 27 balls, reaching the milestone in style with a maximum. He unfortunately missed out on a well-deserved century, being dismissed on 96 by Manu Saraswat.

Suryavanshi recently captained India to a 3-0 series whitewash against South Africa Under-19. The young skipper led from the front, finishing as the highest run-scorer of the three-match rubber, scoring 206 runs at an average of 68.66 and a strike rate of 187.27, with one century and one half-century.

He signed off the series with a remarkable 127 off 74 balls, studded with nine fours and ten sixes. Meanwhile, India posted a massive total of 374/8 against Scotland in the warm-up fixture, courtesy of valuable contributions from Vihaan Malhotra (77 off 81) and Abhigyan Kundu (55 off 48).

For Scotland, Ollie Jones emerged as the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/70 in ten overs. Meanwhile, India will begin their Under-19 World Cup campaign against the USA on January 15 at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. The Men in Blue have been placed in Group A alongside Bangladesh, New Zealand and the USA. India are the most successful team in Under-19 World Cup history, with five titles to their name.
