Sensex slips 184 points, Nifty dips below 26,150; Titan gains 3%

Benchmark indices open lower amid geopolitical concerns

Indian stock markets opened lower on Wednesday, weighed down by rising geopolitical tensions. Auto sector stocks led the decline in early trade, impacting overall market sentiment.

The S&P BSE Sensex dropped255.21 points to 84,808.13, while the NSE Nifty50 fell72.90 points to 26,105.80as of 9:47 am.

Dr. VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Investments, noted that high volatility is likely ahead, with global events and statements from leaders such as Trump continuing to influence the market. He added,"Recent market movements lack a clear trend, and actions in a few large-cap stocks are disproportionately affecting the indices. For example, despite positive institutional buying yesterday, Nifty drifted down 71 points due to sharp declines in Reliance and HDFC Bank."
