Cold Wave Intensifies Across Odisha; Bhubaneswar Shivers at 11.4°C

The cold wave has tightened its grip on Odisha, with temperatures dipping sharply across the state. Bhubaneswar recorded a minimum temperature of 11.4°C, a steep drop of 7.2°C from the past three days, while Jharsuguda remained the coldest at 7.4°C.

Severe cold conditions continue to grip Odisha as the cold wave intensifies across the state, bringing biting chill to both inland and coastal regions. Bhubaneswar recorded a minimum temperature of 11.4°C today, marking a sharp fall of 7.2°C compared to the last three days. The sudden dip has left the capital city shivering, with residents experiencing significant discomfort early in the morning.

Yesterday, Bhubaneswar registered 15.4°C, but the rapid decline in temperature overnight has amplified the cold spell. Meanwhile, Jharsuguda remained the coldest location in Odisha, recording a minimum of 7.4°C, followed by Keonjhar at 9.2°C. Balasore registered 11.2°C, while Chandbali and Paradeep recorded 12.4°C each.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, the persistence of dry and cold northerly winds blowing into the state is contributing to the continuing drop in night temperatures. Over the next three days, temperatures are expected to fall further by 1 to 1.5°C in many areas.

Cold conditions are likely to worsen both in hilly regions and along the coastal belt. The weather department has also forecast the possibility of dense fog at several locations across Odisha during this period, which may reduce visibility and affect transportation.
