Actor Taapsee Pannu has shared her perspective on the ongoing discussion about the rising cost of entourages in Bollywood, arguing that the belief that every star travels with a large team is not entirely accurate.

Speaking in a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Taapsee said the issue has sparked intense debates in the film industry, with some producers claiming that major actors often bring several staff members to sets, increasing production expenses. However, the actor noted that her personal experiences with some of Bollywood’s biggest names suggest otherwise.

Taapsee pointed out that while working with top stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan, she did not observe excessively large entourages around them. According to her, the assumption that every leading actor requires a large team may be a misconception.

She also questioned producers who criticise actors for high entourage costs while continuing to hire them. Taapsee suggested that if filmmakers believe such practices are unnecessary, they should address the issue directly instead of complaining publicly.

The conversation about entourage expenses has gained momentum in recent months, with filmmakers like Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar and Shoojit Sircar raising concerns about how large teams accompanying actors can increase production budgets. Industry figures continue to debate whether large entourages are essential support systems or an avoidable cost burden for film productions.
