Border 2 actor Sunny Deol recently met the family of Param Vir Chakra awardee Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, whose extraordinary bravery during the 1971 India-Pakistan War forms a key part of the film’s narrative. The meeting took place amid the film’s successful theatrical run over the Republic Day weekend.
Sharing a photograph from the meeting on social media, Sunny reflected on the experience and its emotional impact. In his caption, he described it as a privilege to meet the family of the decorated war hero, whose role is portrayed by Diljit Dosanjh in the film. He called the interaction “so warm and memorable” and emphasised the significance of honouring the families who carry forward the legacy of India’s soldiers.
Sunny further highlighted the film’s intent, stating that Border 2 serves as a salute not only to the armed forces but also to the families who support them with quiet courage and resilience.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 draws inspiration from real-life events during the 1971 conflict and showcases the coordinated efforts of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. The film has resonated strongly with audiences, aided by its patriotic theme and authentic storytelling.
