After steering the massive success of the Allu Arjun-Rashmika Mandanna-led Pushpa saga, director Sukumar is gearing up to reunite with Ram Charan for his next major venture. The film, tentatively titled RC17, is expected to commence production around April-May 2026, post Charan’s ongoing project Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana.
While the announcement itself has sparked excitement, the bigger buzz in industry circles is that Sukumar may attempt to interlink RC17 with the flourishing Pushpa universe.
According to strong chatter within film circles, Sukumar is contemplating a crossover where Ram Charan’s character exists in the same universe as Pushpa Raj, played by Allu Arjun.
Speculation suggests two potential outcomes:
Charan's character may directly cross paths with Pushpa Raj onscreen.
The ending of RC17 might strategically set the stage forPushpa 3: The Rampage.
Just the possibility of Cherry and Bunny sharing screen space or narrative connectivity has fans thrilled, with social media buzzing at the thought of a Telugu cinematic universe.
Despite widespread excitement, there is no official confirmation regarding the crossover. Until clarity emerges from the makers, all the hype remains speculative-though incredibly intriguing for fans of both stars.
Ram Charan and Allu Arjunearlier appeared in the 2014 film Yevadu, although they did not share scenes. Reportedly, the cousins went through 18 years of strained relations owing to a misunderstanding involving actress Neha Sharma, who was linked with both actors at one point. Neither star publicly addressed the rumours, but the alleged conflict kept them distant.
In a heartwarming turn, the cousins were seen sharing an emotional embrace in August this year at the funeral of their grandmother, Allu Kanakaratnam, signalling a restoration of their equation.
With Sukumar at the helm, RC17 is already generating high expectations. The mere idea of interconnection with the Pushpa franchise has amplified the frenzy, setting the industry abuzz with discussions on whether a Telugu cinematic crossover is in the making.
