Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the remaining sections of the Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and the Meerut Metro, marking a major milestone in India’s high-speed regional transport network.
The newly completed 82-km RRTS corridor includes key stretches between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi and Meerut South to Modipuram. With a design speed of 180 km/h and operational speed of 160 km/h, the corridor will connect major urban centres such as Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Modinagar and Meerut, reducing travel time to less than one hour.
The Meerut Metro, India’s fastest metro service with a top speed of 120 km/h, will cover 13 stations and complete its route in around 30 minutes. It will also provide interchange connectivity with the Namo Bharat RRTS at multiple stations, improving passenger convenience.
Sarai Kale Khan station has been developed as a major multi-modal hub connecting railway, metro, and bus services. During his visit, Modi will also inaugurate and dedicate development projects worth ₹12,930 crore and address a public gathering.
The project is part of the government’s broader plan to enhance connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and promote sustainable urban mobility across the Delhi-NCR region.
