Five days after the tragic accident, the car of software engineer Yuvraj Mehta remains submerged in a water-filled pit in Greater Noida’s Sector 150. Authorities brought a crane on Tuesday in a major retrieval operation, but the delay has sparked outrage among residents.
Yuvraj’s Grand Vitara plunged into the pit on Friday night while returning from his Gurugram office to Tata Eureka Park. Despite his desperate cries for help and informing his father, Rajkumar Mehta, the rescue operation was delayed. Disaster management teams, including SDRF and NDRF, reportedly hesitated to enter the pit due to freezing water and unsafe conditions.
The incident has triggered political tensions, with AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj accusing officials, including DDMA chair Medha Roopam, of criminal negligence and demanding immediate inquiry and resignation. Eyewitnesses corroborated claims that the techie struggled for nearly two hours before succumbing to the accident.
