Filmmaker Sudha Kongara opened up about her latest filmParasakthi, sharing insights on the challenges she faced with censorship, online harassment, and navigating sensitive political themes. In an exclusive interview with India Today, Kongara explained how she managed cuts by the censor board without compromising her creative vision, drawing on her past experience withSoorarai Pottru. She described the revisions as minor, ensuring the storytelling ofParasakthiremained intact.
On the matter of competition, Sudha Kongara expressed admiration for superstar Vijay, clarifying that she does not view him as a rival. She condemned the delays faced byJana Nayaganand emphasised that competing with one of India’s biggest stars is impossible, highlighting her respect for him as an actor.
Kongara also addressed intense online harassment, noting that much of it stemmed from anonymous social media accounts rather than genuine fans. She spoke about the abusive language directed at her and reaffirmed her belief in freedom of speech while condemning character assassination.
Regarding political undertones, Kongara stated thatParasakthiis a balanced film focused on the students’ movement and language issues, not political propaganda. She stressed her opposition to any form of forced language imposition, advocating respect for individual choice and democratic values.
