Newlywed Woman Allegedly Abducted at Gunpoint in Bolangir district, Police Launch Manhunt

Police have launched a search operation after a newlywed woman was allegedly abducted at gunpoint in Bolangir district. The accused has been identified, and efforts are underway to trace both him and the woman.

Odisha Police have formed a special team to trace an accused and a newlywed woman who was allegedly abducted at gunpoint in the Tarbha police station area of Bolangir district. The shocking incident reportedly took place early Sunday morning and has raised serious concerns about public safety and illegal firearm use.

According to police sources, the accused, identified as Sanjeeb Sahu alias Buthi from Kantamal, allegedly intercepted the vehicle of the couple at Badbandh while they were returning from their wedding ceremony. The groom, a resident of Kamakhyanagar, had travelled to Kantamal for the marriage.

The accused allegedly threatened the groom with a gun and forcibly took the bride away before fleeing the scene. The groom later approached Tarbha Police Station and informed police about the incident.

Reports also suggest that the accused had sent a warning message to the groom before the wedding, but it was allegedly ignored by the bride’s family. Police are currently recording statements, conducting search operations, and investigating all possible angles. Efforts are ongoing to locate the accused and safely recover the woman.
