According to the India Meteorological Department, a new low-pressure system is likely to develop over the Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal within the next 48 hours. This weather system, supported by an upper air cyclonic circulation, is expected to move west-northwestwards and may impact weather conditions across parts of India, including Odisha.
In Odisha, dry weather will continue from February 22 to 23, 2026, with no major warnings issued. However, from February 23 to 24, light rain or thundershowers may occur in districts such as Koraput, Puri, Khordha, Balasore, and Mayurbhanj. A Yellow Warning has been issued for several districts due to possible thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 km/h.
Between February 24 and 25, light rain and thunderstorms are also expected in coastal and northern districts like Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and Bhadrak, while other areas may remain dry. Authorities have advised residents to remain alert and take precautions against lightning and sudden weather changes, especially in vulnerable regions.
