Long queues of consumers have been reported outside several LPG distribution agencies in Bhubaneswar as residents struggle to obtain cooking gas cylinders despite placing bookings weeks in advance.
Many customers alleged that they have not received LPG cylinders even20 to 25 days after booking, raising concerns about delays in supply and distribution.
People were seen standing in queues fortwo to three hours or even longeroutside gas agencies across the city. The delay in cylinder supply has created significant inconvenience for households that rely on LPG for daily cooking.
Several residents said that despite booking cylinders earlier in the month, deliveries had not been made. As a result, many consumers were forced to visit LPG agencies personally to collect their booked cylinders.
One consumer said that he had run out of cooking gas for several days and had to repeatedly visit the agency.
“I booked my cylinder on the 2nd of the month and came to collect it on the 9th, but the stock was already over for the day. I finally managed to get the cylinder on Wednesday,” the consumer said.
The sudden rush at LPG agencies has been linked to public concerns triggered by tensions and conflict in parts of the Middle East, which have pushed upglobal fuel and oil pricesand created uncertainty among consumers.
However, officials have assured that the situation remains under control and that there isno shortage of LPG supplyat present.
Some consumers have also alleged that delays in delivery have led toblack marketing of LPG cylinders, making it difficult for genuine consumers to obtain cooking gas.
Residents said the uncertainty over supply and rising fuel prices have added to the concerns of households dependent on LPG cylinders for daily use.
