At just 20 years old, Renee Noronha has already made history as India’s youngest female Ironman athlete, completing her first challenge at the age of 18 years and 49 days. Despite her remarkable achievements, Renee exudes a calm and grounded presence, attributing her balance to family, her dog Sky, and simple joys like attending a Taylor Swift concert.
Renee’s athletic journey began with gymnastics, which she pursued for ten years as a child. At 16, she transitioned to triathlons, discovering a passion for running, swimming, and cycling. Mentored by her coach, she tackled her first Ironman in 2024 at New Zealand, followed by Hamburg, overcoming challenging weather conditions and fierce headwinds along the way.
Balancing academics and sports, Renee is pursuing a BSc in Data Science and Applications at IIT Madras while also working toward a diploma in Sports Science from Carshalton College, London. She credits her Ironman training with teaching her time management, discipline, and consistency, skills that have enhanced both her athletic performance and academic focus. Supported by her family, friends, and Under Armour’s UA squad, Renee thrives in all conditions and continues to push her limits.
Renee treasures the moment she first heard “You are an Ironman” and hopes to see the term “Ironwoman” gain recognition, reflecting the growing participation of women in endurance sports. Currently, only about 17 percent of Ironman finishers are women, and Renee aspires to inspire more female athletes to join the field.
Looking ahead, her long-term goals include breaking the world record as the youngest athlete to complete an Ironman on all six continents and representing India at the Ironman World Championships, while continuing to make a positive impact on endurance sports for women.
