A vehicle carrying cannabis met with an accident on Wednesday at Shankhamala Chhak under Kiakata Police Station in Angul district while trying to evade police. The car, reportedly travelling from Kiakata Bridge in Boudh towards Sambalpur, collided head-on with an oncoming motorcycle during the high-speed chase. The motorcyclist is in critical condition and was rushed to a medical facility.
Police seized the vehicle and detained the driver. While Boudh police escorted him to their station, Kiakata police remained at the site to guard the seized car.
Following the crash, locals staged a road blockade demanding compensation for the injured motorcyclist, bringing traffic on the Sankhamala–Sonepur road to a standstill.
