Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami criticized the DMK government following a bomb attack on a police vehicle on the Trichy-Chennai highway near Perambalur. The attack occurred while police were escorting a notorious rowdy, Vellai Kali, linked to multiple criminal cases. Four police personnel were seriously injured and hospitalized.
Palaniswami claimed the incident highlighted a breakdown of law and order, alleging criminals have “absolutely no fear” of the police or government. He also accused Chief Minister M K Stalin of curbing police independence.
Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran also condemned the attack, warning that public safety and the safety of uniformed officers were being compromised. Both leaders questioned the effectiveness of the DMK regime, suggesting the government’s social media posturing does not reflect on-ground safety.
