In a shocking incident in Kamareddy district, Telangana, 15 monkeys were killed and around 80 others severely injured due to suspected poisoning at a dhaba along the highway. Locals reported that the surviving animals were found in critical condition, unable to walk, prompting immediate intervention by the village sarpanch and a veterinary doctor.
Eyewitnesses alleged that unidentified individuals transported the monkeys in a van and deliberately poisoned them at the site. Village sarpanch Mahender Reddy confirmed that a police complaint will be lodged to investigate the incident.
Animal rights activists and locals have strongly condemned the act, which comes shortly after a series of mass poisonings of stray dogs in Telangana districts including Kamareddy, Hanamkonda, and Yacharam. These incidents have sparked outrage over the treatment of animals in the state, highlighting concerns about deliberate cruelty and public safety.
