In a shocking incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district, a marriage ended within hours after the bride walked out of her husband’s home and approached police, expressing her desire to live with her lover instead.
The woman, who had been married late Tuesday night, allegedly refused to consummate the marriage and left for the police station the next morning. She told officers that her family had forced her into the marriage despite her being in a relationship with another man.
Police immediately called both families and conducted counselling sessions in an attempt to resolve the matter. However, the woman remained firm in her decision and refused to stay with her husband.
The groom, shocked by the revelation, told police he was unaware of her relationship and would not have agreed to the marriage had he known earlier.
With no resolution possible, both families mutually agreed to end the marriage the same day. The woman returned to her parental home, while the groom’s family initiated formal separation proceedings.
