The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly criticised the India-US trade agreement, accusing the BJP-led central government of compromising the interests of Indian farmers and businessmen.
The party cited comments made by Donald Trump, who stated that under the agreement, India would continue paying tariffs while the United States would not. AAP alleged that this contradicts the government’s claims that the deal is balanced and beneficial for India.
Trump’s remarks came after the Supreme Court of the United States struck down his earlier reciprocal tariffs. Despite the ruling, Trump maintained that the trade agreement with India would remain unchanged.
AAP described the deal as a “death warrant” for Indian farmers and traders, warning that it could negatively impact their livelihoods. The party also accused the BJP government led by Narendra Modi of misleading the public by presenting the agreement as a diplomatic success.
The controversy has intensified political debate over the trade pact and its potential impact on India’s agriculture and business sectors.
