Archy Gupta, now a software engineer at Google, has captured widespread attention on social media after sharing an honest account of her professional journey from a Tier-3 college to one of the world’s leading tech companies. Her Instagram post, featuring photos and reflective captions, detailed years of rejection, learning and steady effort that ultimately paid off.
Graduating in 2017 from a Tier-3 college in Bhopal with limited campus placement opportunities, Gupta began her career at a service-based firm. Recognising the need to strengthen her technical foundation, she focused on core computer science concepts, problem-solving, databases and programming fundamentals.
Her persistence helped her secure an internship at product-based company OpenText through a referral, which later converted into a full-time role. A rejection from Google in 2019 became a turning point rather than a setback. Gupta continued refining her skills while working at ServiceNow, practising data structures and algorithms consistently.
In 2022, Google reached out again. After months of preparation and multiple interview rounds, she finally received an offer. Reflecting on her journey, Gupta emphasised that consistent daily effort, even when progress feels invisible, eventually compounds into success.
Her story has resonated widely online, with users praising her journey as proof that determination, skill development and patience can outweigh institutional labels in the competitive tech industry.
