A shocking incident has been reported from Telangana where a 16-year-old girl gave birth to a newborn inside the washroom of a private diagnostic centre after appearing for her intermediate examination.
According to sources, the girl began experiencing severe abdominal pain soon after completing her exam. Concerned about her condition, her mother first took her to a private hospital. Doctors advised them to get an ultrasound scan, following which they went to a nearby scanning centre.
While waiting for her turn at the centre, the girl suddenly rushed to the washroom as the pain intensified. She unexpectedly went into labour and delivered a baby there.
Staff members at the diagnostic centre later noticed the newborn, who was allegedly placed in a dustbin by the girl and her mother. They immediately informed the police, who rushed to the spot after receiving the alert.
Authorities quickly shifted both the teenager and the newborn to the Nagarkurnool Government Hospital for medical care. According to the latest updates, both the girl and the baby are safe and under medical supervision.
Police have begun an investigation into the incident, and the circumstances surrounding the girl's pregnancy are still unclear.
The case has drawn attention to similar incidents in the past. Last year, a class 10 student in Malkangiri also gave birth after appearing for her board examination at a government hospital in the district. Authorities had then launched an investigation into how the situation went unnoticed at the residential school where the girl was staying.
